The Brief

A law firm of 35 attorneys wanted to move from a traditional office tower to a smaller, more intentional space. Their concern: would clients take them seriously in a building without a marble lobby?

The Study

We interviewed the firm’s clients — mostly business owners and executives. Not a single one mentioned the marble lobby. What they mentioned: finding parking, navigating the elevator bank, and the 15-minute walk from the lobby to the conference room.

The Response

We converted a 1920s warehouse into their offices. The entrance is at street level — no lobby, no elevator. Clients walk through a small courtyard into a boardroom that opens directly off the entrance. The rest of the office is a series of connected rooms, not a maze of cubicles.

The Result

Client feedback: “It feels like we’re meeting in someone’s library, not a law office.” The firm reports that initial consultations convert to retained clients at a higher rate than in their previous space.
